Mayfield CSD is proud to announce the addition of two School Security Officers to our staff for the 2023-24 school year. Zachary Rulison will be stationed at the Jr/Sr High School and Brett Dutcher will be stationed at the Elementary School. Zach and Brett each come to the district with years of experience and training in safety and emergency services. We welcome both to our school community!
Meet the officers:
Zachary Rulison – Jr/Sr High School Security Officer
My name is Zachary Rulison and I am very excited to join the team at Mayfield as a School Security Officer at the Jr/Sr High School. I have heard great things about the district, and I can’t wait to get to know everyone!
In my previous position, I worked as a correction officer for over 8 years. I have training in several areas of safety including effective communication and suicide prevention. After my time as a correction officer, I decided to get into the world of school security because after watching my own children go through school, I understand the obstacles students, teachers, and administration face every day. I want all students and staff to feel they are in a safe space when in our school buildings.
I am looking forward to the new school year and becoming a valued part of the Mayfield School community!

Brett Dutcher – Elementary School Security Officer
My name is Brett Dutcher and I will be working as a School Security Officer at the Elementary School. As a Mayfield School alumni, this area is my home and I am proud to take on this role within the community.
I am excited for the opportunity to work with students and staff; to be a positive role model and set a good example for the students. Having gone to both the Elementary and Jr/Sr High School, being back in these hallways brings back great memories and I am very happy to be here.
I am a United States Army Veteran with completed tours in Iraq and I have a background in security in my previous positions. School safety is important to me and I intend on making sure the school is secure and provide a safe environment for students and staff at all times.
