The New York State Education Department has released the results of statewide testing taken by students in grades 3-8 in April and May in both English Language Arts and mathematics.
Statewide, in ELA, 45.2 percent of all test takers in grades 3-8 scored at the proficient level (Levels 3 and 4). In math, 44.5 percent of all test takers in grades 3-8 scored at the proficient level.
At Mayfield, every grade scored at 47 percent proficiency or higher except for the grade 5 ELA, grade 7 ELA and math and grade 8 ELA and math results.

The state tests are graded on scores ranging from Levels 1 to 4, with levels 3 and 4 meaning that a student meets the state standards and has achieved proficiency. Students scoring in levels 1 and 2 will need extra help to better understand the state standards.
