Mayfield Elementary School students in February will again participate in the annual American Heart Association’s Kids Heart Challenge, joining millions of other children across the country in this meaningful opportunity to learn and to help others.
This is the 12th year Mayfield students will take part in the event, having raised $164,608 dollars over the past 11 years. The school’s goal this year is to raise $10,000, despite the fact some changes have been made to the structure of the fundraiser. This year’s fundraiser will be conducted completely online. No cash or checks will be accepted.
During the Kids Heart Challenge, students will learn how their hearts work and how to take care of them through proper nutrition and physical activity. The Heart Challenge Jump Main Event will take place the week of February 1-5 during physical education classes. All students are asked to wear red on the day of their Heart Challenge event to support the American Heart Association.
Students also have the opportunity to raise money to help others who have cardiovascular disease. Students can ask friends and family to give online. All donations will need to be received by February 5.
The directions for participating in the online fundraiser are as follows:
- Go to the American Heart Association Donation website: http://www2.heart.org/goto/mayfieldelementary
- When you arrive at the site, you will see a banner labeled Mayfield Elementary School “SIGN UP”. Click the link and follow the directions.
- For the safety of students, we ask that they do not ask strangers for donations.
Children will receive thank-you gifts based on the donations they collect. See the prizes available here. Mayfield Elementary also will earn free physical education equipment.
