The Mayfield Central School District Board of Education is pleased to announce the appointment of four accomplished education professionals to the positions of principals, assistant principal and dean of students. Joshua Santarcangelo, Melanie O’Neill, John J. Pierce and Teresa Lowe were appointed at a Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, June 11th. They will assume their roles in early July.
Joshua Santarcangelo has accepted the position of principal at the Jr/Sr High School and brings over 17 years of experience in education serving in a variety of administrative and teacher roles. He currently serves as Dean of Students at Theodore Herberg Middle School in Pittsfield, MA. Prior to this role he was a social studies teacher for sixteen years, with eleven of those years serving as department chair. Santarcangelo received his master’s degree in Educational Leadership from The College of St. Rose.
Melanie O’Neill has accepted the position of assistant principal at the Jr/Sr High School. O’Neill has held numerous leadership roles including her current position as Education Technology Specialist and Chief Information Officer at Duanesburg Central School District. She received her School Building Leader and School District Leader advanced certifications from The College of St. Rose.
John J. Pierce has accepted the position of principal at the Elementary School. Pierce currently serves as Remediation Coordinator at Pulaski County Middle School in Pulaski, VA and recently served as interim Assistant Principal at Riverlawn Elementary School in Fairlawn, VA. Prior to his administrative roles, he taught first grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade for over 11 years. Mr. Pierce received his Master of Education degree in Educational Leadership from The College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA.
Teresa Lowe has accepted the position of Dean of Students at the Elementary School and brings over 25 years of experience in various educational roles. Lowe currently serves as a Co-Teacher and Interventionist at Alexandria Central School. Prior to this role she has held numerous positions at Alexandria including Athletic Coordinator, Rti Coordinator, 3rd-6th Grade Interventionist and Kindergarten teacher. She received her master’s degree in Elementary Education from SUNY Potsdam.
