Mayfield Alumnus Establishes $10,000 Scholarship for Graduating Seniors

Mayfield alumnus Mark Aesch

Mayfield Jr/Sr High School is pleased to announce a new scholarship opportunity made possible by 1984 alumnus Mark Aesch, a nationally recognized CEO, author, and speaker. The scholarship, administered through the Mark Aesch Foundation, will award $10,000 over four years to a graduating senior who plans to pursue higher education and a career in public service.

Each year, one Mayfield High School senior will be selected to receive a $2,500 scholarship renewable for up to four consecutive years, provided the student maintains a GPA of 3.0 or higher and remains enrolled in a public service-related course of study. Examples of government and public sector careers include education, criminal justice, international law, and pre-law.

Aesch, who grew up on a family farm on Route 29A in Mayfield, went on to work for a New York State Congressman, lead a $100 million public agency in Rochester, NY and later founded TransPro, a nationally recognized public sector management consulting firm. He is the author of two best-selling books, Driving Excellence and Saving America. He has delivered speeches to audiences nationwide and has traveled to all seven continents, visiting over 60 countries.

“This scholarship is about encouraging young people to serve something bigger than themselves,” said Aesch. “Mayfield gave me a solid foundation. I’m honored to invest in the next generation of leaders from this community.”

Superintendent of Mayfield Central School District Christopher M. Clapper said, “We are incredibly grateful to Mark Aesch for his generosity and his continued commitment to the students of Mayfield. His scholarship not only honors his roots but also inspires our students to imagine the impact they can make through public service. This is an extraordinary opportunity for our graduates.”

Applications are available through the Mayfield High School Counseling Office and will be reviewed by the Mark Aesch Foundation Board. Up to three finalists will be selected to participate in a virtual video interview with the Board before a final recipient is chosen.

The scholarship will be administered by Mayfield Central School District and paid directly to the recipient’s college or university. Applications are due to the Mayfield Central School District Counseling Center by Thursday, May 1, 2025. Students interested in applying should visit the counseling center or call 518-661-8213 for details.
