Library/Media Services

Our Elementary library media center is an integral part of the growth and academic well-being of our Elementary students and educators. We offer resources, guidance, and support to help students excel academically and develop a lifelong love of learning.

Our library media specialists are committed to developing programming that complements classroom learning and promotes literacy, independent inquiry and exploration, digital citizenship, and the responsible use of information and information technology.

What do library media specialists do?

  • Promote reading for pleasure and learning
  • Provide resources that reflect the curriculum and individual interests
  • Help students locate, retrieve, evaluate, analyze, and use information
  • Teach students to use reference materials, take notes, and cite sources
  • Integrate technology into instruction
  • Advocate ethical behavior in the use of technology
  • Collaborate with teachers about teaching and learning

Elementary Book Loan Policy

Library books are due in the student’s library class each rotation. If students are not done reading their books, they may keep them longer. Books are not considered overdue unless they have been out for more than 30 days.

Elementary Lost/Damaged Books Policy

There are currently no fees for lost or damaged books. However, considering books are expensive to replace, we expect students to care for the ones they have borrowed. If parents or guardians would like to replace a lost or damaged book, we will gladly accept either payment or a replacement copy. In the event that multiple books are lost or damaged, borrowing privileges may be suspended until payment or a replacement has been received.
