Hello, my name is David Jones, or as many people in the community know me, Tank Jones. I am running for a seat on the Mayfield Central School District Board of Education. I grew up in Ballston Spa and graduated from Ballston Spa High School. I attended and graduated from SUNY ESF Ranger School with an associate degree in forestry with an emphasis in land surveying. I have worked in the land surveying, engineering and construction fields for 24 years and am currently employed by Tripoint Construction Layout. I feel my engineering and construction experience will be valuable to the district in ensuring that capital improvement projects and facility improvements are done correctly, timely and cost effectively for the taxpayer.
For the past six years I have volunteered as the president of the Southern Adirondack Snowmobile Association. In that position I gained experience with operating budgets, fundraising and effective communication, along with guiding volunteers to accomplish different goals and improvements. I have volunteered with the Mayfield sports program by helping to paint lines on the soccer fields for youth travel soccer, running the scoreboard for games, and keeping the books for travel and modified basketball.
Although I did not attend Mayfield Central School District, I have always had ties to the community through my father, grandmother and many other relatives who graduated from here. I spent many weekends at the lake or our family camp while growing up. After college I met my wife who is a Mayfield graduate. While I graduated from a larger school district, I also saw the benefits and opportunities of a smaller school district where the school is also the hub of the tight-knit community. This is why we decided to raise our family in Mayfield and have lived here for 22 years. Our son Hunter graduated from Mayfield in 2022 and is an Amsterdam Firefighter and our daughter Hailey is currently in the 9th grade.
I think we have an amazing community that never hesitates to support each other and that is why I am running for a seat on the Mayfield Board of Education. I will work tirelessly to support our students, teachers, staff and our community by helping to provide them with the tools they need to be successful, while also being fiscally responsible. The children of a community are its greatest asset, and it is our job to provide them with the best chance to be successful in their future. Whether a student is entering the workforce, going to a trade school, or attending college, I will strive to provide them with the foundation they need. I will listen to the families and community and work hard to support them, their concerns, and keep the school as the hub of our community.
I would appreciate your support on May 20, 2025.
