Would YOU know how to respond to a flood – an earthquake – or a devastating tornado? What about a man-made disaster like a cyber threat – an arson – or a natural gas leak? There are steps that you and your family can take to make sure you are as prepared as possible for such an event.
Johnstown High School will be the host site for a NY Citizen Preparedness Training session on Thursday, March 9, in the JPAC (HS Auditorium) at 6:30 p.m. The session is open to the public and participants must sign up in advance. To register and for additional information, visit www.prepare.ny.gov.
Participants will learn how to:
- Prepare for and react to any type of disaster – natural or man-made.
- Create a family emergency plan.
- Stock up on emergency supplies and properly equip your home
Each family that attends will receive a Preparedness Kit for their home.
Citizen Preparedness Corps is a New York state initiative that began public training sessions in 2014. Trainings are led by the New York National Guard, with experts from the Division’s Office of Emergency Management and Office of Fire Prevention and Control.
This opportunity is being made available to members of the Johnstown community – and surrounding areas – through the Governor’s office and the Fulton County Emergency Management Office.
