The fourth grade team is dedicated to providing a safe, nurturing, and encouraging academic environment for your children.

Our goal is to educate students with strategies and resources

that equip them for academic success.

Home-School Communication
·        Agendas must be checked and signed daily. Teachers will respond to any communication within 2 days.
·        Please call or email any immediate concerns.  To provide uninterrupted instruction to your children the best time to call is between the hours of : 8:00-8:30 am, 9:45-10:20 am, 12:15-12:45 pm, or 3:15-4:00 pm.

·        Please refer to Mayfield Parent-Student Handbook, or individual teachers for behavior expectations.

Academic Goals

  • By January, students will be able to write a multi-paragraph, sequentially organized essay.
  • By March, students will have mastered introductory: multiplication, division, geometry, and fractions.
  • By April, students will have studied: lifecycles, magnets, electricity, and physical science in preparation for the NYS Science Assessment.
  • By the end of 4th grade students will be responsible, organized, and independent learners.

Homework Policy

  • In 4th grade you can expect your child to have approximately 30-40 minutes of homework per night to include, but not limited to: Math Fact and Practice sheets, grammar/spelling sheet, and 15 minutes of reading.
  • Daily reading is an essential component of learning success.  We strongly encourage participation in the READ 25 reading program. This program, coupled with our curriculum, will provide literacy success for your child. Please inform teachers if you need more READ 25 forms or materials to complete projects.
  • A monthly Social Studies or Science project will begin in October. All materials and directions will be provided with the assignments.

Please email your child's classroom teacher if you have questions or concerns:
