Philosophy: Every student will experience a sense of success and self confidence in a supportive and accepting environment.
Homework Policy: Students will have an average of 30 to 40 minutes of homework each day. Homework is expected to be quality work. Homework will consist of daily math and spelling assignments as well as weekly social studies and science assignments. Reading assignments will be assigned periodically. Incomplete homework will be finished during recess. This does not include study time that might be necessary to prepare for assessments (ie: unit tests). Agenda will need to be signed daily by parents.
Academic/Behavioral Expectations: Students will be encouraged to continuously make progress and show academic and personal growth. All students should demonstrate at least one years growth as well as perform at or above the state standard on standardized tests.
Positive, appropriate, and cooperative behavior is expected at all times. Rewards for expected behavior include field trips, field days, and various school related activities. Consequences for poor behavior choices include loss of recess time, time out, loss of classroom privileges, and/or a note or phone call to parents. Severe offenses will receive an office referral and possible missed field trips or school activities.
Students will accept personal responsibility for behavior as well as academic choices.
