Elementary school work - playground, athletic fields, parking - first to get upgrades

Superintendent Jon Peterson announced today that the first phase of the Building the Future, Restoring the Past" capital project - which includes work at the elementary school - has received approval from the state Education Department.
The district's architects for all three phases of project is BCK-IBI. MCS employees whose instructional or office spaces were impacted have been directly involved in the designs.
Phase 1 was submitted last month to the New York State Education Department and the school district received approval on June 2, said Peterson.
Phase I will include this work, all at the elementary school:
» New playground complete with improved site drainage
» Improved athletic fields- Baseball, soccer, softball
» Improved site lighting
» Improved parking
» Potentially improved bus drop off
» Improved sanitary piping and grease traps
Here is the Phase 1 timeline:
» 6/7/16 - Bid Opening
» 6/14/16 - Special Board of Education meeting to award bids
» 6/27/16 - Begin construction
The district is also heavily involved in Phase 2 and 3 design. Here is the timeline:
» 6/7/16 - Design of Athletic Fields and the auditorium
» 6/28/16 - Engineering Meeting II (HVAC, lighting, security, plumbing,etc)
» 9/16 - Submission to the state Education Deparment
Last month, the Board of Education interviewed and appointed C&S to provide construction management services to the district. They come highly recommended and are expected to ensure a high quality, on schedule and value added product, said Peterson.
