Course Content
This is a one-credit course, which involves hands-on study of the earth. Topics include map reading, weather and climate patterns, natural disasters, astronomy, physical and historical geology, landscape development, and environmental issues like water quality, groundwater pollution, global warming and soil conservation.
Course Requirements
There are no pre-requisites for this course, although basic math skills will be helpful.
Student will be expected to:
COME to class on time and prepared
SUBMIT any assignments on time and completed
TRY his/her very best
STAY for extra-help whenever necessary or if assigned by the office.
Required Materials
Pencil or Pen, ESRT’s, Basic Function Calculator, 4-Colored Pencils, Lab Manual and Review Book.

Grading
Students receive a grade every 5 weeks on a Progress Report that is mailed home.
Students receive a grade every 10 weeks on a Report Card, which the student takes home.
A grade can be computed at any time in the course, using the following general guidelines:
Major Test (after each chapter) about 60%
Post-Lab (quiz after each lab) about 15%
Homework - for each lab
Labs - Regents Requirement – about 25%
Re-Tests Available on Request
Extra Help
Time for students to get personalized attention is limited; As a courtesy, please check with the teacher on a day that you are planning to stay 9th period to get extra help. Check the hours, posted at the right.
