Kindergarten Team Philosophy

“We will create a warm, safe, caring environment where learning and fun go hand in hand.”

Highlights

Spring is here! Please remember to send your child to school everyday with appropriate outdoor clothing so that they can play outside on chilly and muddy days.

The Learning Fair was a great success!  We were happy to see so many families come to see all of the hard work the students put into their displays.  The kindergarten classes had some excellent displays on ladybugs, butterflies, ants and plants.  It was great to see how the kindergarten students learned about the different life cycles.  We are looking forward to learning about how other creatures and plants grow and change throughout the rest of the school year.

Please check your child's bookbag for important information about our upcoming Kindergarten Musical!  This will be a special night filled with fun and music.

Please remember the final benchmark to read a total of 25 books for the Read 25 program is May 1st.  We are very excited to see how many kindergarteners are participating in this program.  Keep up the great reading at home.  Please let your child's teacher know if you need extra book banners or you can print them off the link on the left side of our webpage.

www.starfall.com is a great website to try at home with your child.  This easy website will help your child learn about letters and reading.

 *** Reminder ***

If you plan on taking your child home with you after a school event (assembly, field trip or party), you must notify the office by 12:00 that day.  If the office does have a note or phone call from you by noon, your child will have to take the bus home.  Please remember to notify the office by 12:00 anytime you will be picking your child up from school.

Read 25

We are excited to be participating in the Read 25 Program this year.  Reading at home is a terrific way to help your child develop reading skills.  Read 25 is a program that encourages reading at home.  Each time you read a book at home with your child you can fill out a book banner sheet and return it to your child's teacher.  Our goal is to have 100% of the Kindergarteners reach the benchmarks and read 25 books by May so that they can all participate in the school rally at the end of the year.  This program is a terrific way to encourage reading for knowledge and enjoyment.

Benchmark Dates:

read 8 books by Nov. 1st

read 16 books by Feb. 1st

read a total of 25 books by May 1st

(You can download copies of the book banner on the left side of this website.)

Behavior expectations

Our school is stressing character education by encouraging good social behavior and citizenship.  In kindergarten we expect children to :

-   use good manners
-      share
-      show respect for self and others
-      demonstrate good listening skills
-      learn to develop good work habits individually and as a group

-      of course the golden rule- treat others as you would like to be treated
