"Babe" Baldwin is a graduate from Mayfield High School.  He excelled in athletics while at MCS.  His achievements include playing college soccer, being named all-American in basketball twice, becoming a scratch golfer and being signed to the New York Yankees.

On January 26, 2008 Mayfield paid tribute to Baldwin.  This culminated in retiring his basketball jersey number.
